Q. Is this all for real?
A. Yes it is. No scams. No pranks. Scout's Honour. This is for real. Nissan Canada is going to give away 50 cubes®.
Q. Why me?
A. Nissan wants these cubes to go to the right people. If you’ve found your way to this site, or were invited to come, guess what? You’re what we’re looking for. You don’t have to be unique in any conventional sense, just be yourself. So stop being modest. You’re awesome.
Q. How does vote rank work?
R. Vote rank is the contestant’s rank based purely on the number of votes they have received. A lower rank denotes a higher number of votes. In the case of a tie contestants share a single vote rank. For example, if 499 people each had 100 votes and 1 person had 99 votes, then the 499 people would have a ‘vote rank’ of 1 and the 1 person would have a ‘vote rank’ of 2. Vote rank will be provided to the judges and will be used as one of the criteria for selecting the winners.
Q. Am I eligible?
A. Short version: probably.
The longer version goes like this: it’s for Canadians only (sorry, rest of world). You need to be the age of majority in your province or territory and you must have your full valid driver’s license (ex: in Ontario your ‘G’) and be insurable. In other words you need to be able to drive, like, right now. Few other things, no automotive journalists are allowed and no Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) employees, retailers or affiliated agencies – or anyone that lives in the same house as them (especially the hypercube judges). One last thing: no criminal records please.
Q. What do I have to do?
A. Your top priority is to sign-up and fill out your hypercube profile. Beyond that you can also follow us (“thehypercube”) on Twitter. This is NOT mandatory, but it sure doesn’t hurt. ;) By following us we can keep you in the loop, give you hints about what we’re looking for, you can share cool links or pics with us and get yourself noticed. Think of it as a way for us to get to know you better and you can get to know us. Don’t worry, if you’re new to it, Twitter is simple.
Q. Do I have a shot? Am I creative enough? Am I too old??
A. Let’s put it this way: being in the hypercube is a state of mind, not state of being. Pretty zen, huh? We’re looking for people from all walks of life and backgrounds. It isn’t what you do, it’s who you are. If you’re the unique, creative and passionate type you’ve definitely got a shot. Want an example? Here’s some amazing stuff we’ve already seen:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=57025572764&ref=mf
But remember, it’s not just about amazing talents. It’s your willingness to show us why you are hypercube.
Q. Ok. So how do I become one of the lucky 500?
A. Start by showing us what makes you unique by filling out your hypercube profile. Make sure you complete your profile by April 9, 2009. Aside from your profile, one great way to show us how unique you are is by interacting with “thehypercube” on Twitter. See? There was a reason for it all along. :P
Q. How will I know if I’m in the final 500?
A. If you’re chosen, in mid-April you’ll get an email from us saying you’re one of the 500 auditioners. That’s when things get real interesting. You won’t just be auditioning for us. You’ll be auditioning for the whole country, maybe the whole world. So not only will you have pretty good odds at winning a cube, you’ll get huge exposure for what you do.
Q. What do you mean by “audition”?
A. Fear not. This isn’t American Idol. We’ll give you blank online canvas to do whatever you want with. You could fill it with links to your stuff, videos, audio, pics – whatever shows off your stuff best. And you can spread your awesomeness however else you want. It could be local media, social media, anything and everything. The point is: you need votes. How you get them is up to you.
Q. Who determines the winners?
A. Simple. It’s a combination of votes from your peers and a panel of esteemed judges who make the final decision as to the 50 of you who walk away with a brand new cube.
Q. Are there any strings attached?
A. Very tiny, miniscule ones. But yes, we’ll be looking for a few concessions from you.
For one, you can’t sell the cube for 1 year (we know, why would you? But still). We also want you to share some updates throughout that year with the cube community. It’ll only be a few times a month, and you’ll probably do it anyways, we just want you to be the leaders for the whole community. And lastly, since you’ll be a bit of a celebrity after this we’re gonna want the opportunity to photo/video/interview you a couple of times.
The full details are in the rules and regs, but these are the key points.
Q. How do I find out more about the cube, specs and stuff?
A. For starters, we have two very well-equipped models to choose from: 1.8 S and 1.8 SL Here are a few other key features people are asking about:
Fuel economy
Technology
Available cube® technology includes:
Power/Drivetrain
If you want more the best place to get the complete detailed specs is on the

Q. What do I do if I encounter site bugs or issues?
A. Fair question. We all know the old Interweb isn’t foolproof. And we understand with a site like this that is evolving constantly there’s a possibility you could encounter a bug. If you do, contact us: contact us
Q. What if I can’t get my profile 100% complete;
A. We’re reasonable people. We have soft spots. Yes, we would like everyone to fill out 100% of their profile page, but if you are having site problems you won’t be punished for it. No kneecaps will be endangered.
Q: Who are bencube and joncube?
A: We set up these email accounts to be able to build profiles for the one-to-one online inviting into the hypercube launch. @hypercube.ca
Jon works in the Toronto office of Capital C and leads the invitation efforts for English Canada. Ben is out of our Montreal office (partner company), he leads the invitation efforts en Français.
These are real people – we wanted to give them a bit on anonymity cause we don’t pay them enough to throw their personal lives out into the World wide web!!
